Our workshop series for the 2015 Pittsburgh Bellydance Festival promises to AMAZE! We have choreography workshops in cabaret, tribal fusion and jazz fusion styles, an exciting workshop learning to dance with a live band, and chance to experience Rosa Noreen’s signature Delicious Pauses!

SATURDAY, 10:00 -11:15 am
Babette will be teaching: Jazz/Bellydance fusion
Learn a sassy and fun choreography incorporating Bellydance and jazz moves to a smooth Lana Del Ray song. Babette will lead students through a long warmup, and after that we’ll dive straight into choreography so we have as much time as possible to dance! Students should know that the choreography does include floor work, however Babette is prepared to offer modification to those who need it. Get ready to strut your stuff!

Sherena will be teaching: A high energy, fast paced Cabaret Choreography as part of the Recorded Music Competition! Non-competitors are welcome to take the workshop and learn some of Sherena’s sizzling shimmies and moves!

Maria will be teaching: A Tribal Choreography as part of the Recorded Music Competition! Non-competitors are welcome to take the workshop and experience first hand Maria’s slow and juicy signature moves!

Fairuza will be teaching: Dancing with a Live Band, working closely with Ishtar, our competition band, Fairuza will lead you through the challenges and opportunities of performing to live music! This is a rare opportunity to Dance with a Live Band, so don’t miss out on the fun!

Delicious Pauses for a drum solo vs. Delicious Pauses for a taqsim, creating stillness in movement. Learn the technique that has made Rosa a name in modern bellydance!

Fairuza will also be leading a lecture called Silhouettes: Techniques you need to perfect your unique silhouette. This lecture will include the techniques you’ll need to create a character, embody the music and perfect your unique silhouette. I will work individually with all the participants and give them advice on how to make their own costumes or help them find costumes that will look amazing on them.
